In 1895, there he wants to prepare sketches for the conceived painting “Dmitry, the Tsarevich Slain”. The artist visits a museum where there were many icons with the face of a murdered boy. In the church, Mikhail Vasilyevich carefully examines the veil that the prince’s mother embroidered in memory of the murdered son. Only a scarlet hat with a scream stands out against this bright, clean background - like a scream about what happened to an innocently murdered boy. Nesterov portrayed what he wanted. The artist showed the connection of the inseparable two worlds, and he succeeded remarkably.
